Graphic Engineering and Design studies are unique in Serbia since they include interdisciplinary study courses in the field of graphic engineering and design, but also some of the basic sciences such as computer sciences, electronics, electrical engineering, communications, management and economy. Graphic technology is studied in technical, technological, aesthetic and economic sense through the subjects focused on technologies of reproduction and printing, design of all kinds of graphic products, production of multimedia content (images, graphics, animations, video and audio sequences), packaging production etc.

Future engineers of graphic technologies and design are educated to solve more and more complex tasks which permeate all phases of graphic products production. From the first steps of graphic products design and development, through their effective and high quality production, they are trained to manage production systems with regard to ecological principles in order to increase the degree of materials recycling and reuse.

Department's staff consists of highly qualified personnel with extensive experience and the formidable scientific results. Lectures and exercises are interactive and take place in modern classrooms at the Faculty and the Graphic Center, which is organized as a special organizational unit within the Department of Graphic Engineering. It is equipped with new, modern machines and devices used for educational purposes and research. GRID Graphic Center is certainly the best equipped educational laboratory at higher educational institutions of this kind both in the country and the region.

Through practical work students are trained to use modern devices and equipment and to implement the latest standards, which give them adequate and solid base for working in graphic industry more efficiently and independently.

Studies at Department of Graphic Engineering and Design are organized in full compliance with the Bologna Declaration. They are divided in three levels – Undergraduate Academic Studies (lasting 8 semesters), Graduate Academic Master's Studies (2 semesters), Specialist Academic Studies (lasting 2 semesters) and Doctoral Academic Studies (6 semesters). Master's Studies are conceived as an upgrade to basic courses, while Specialist and Doctoral PhD studies enable students to raise their skills to a higher level and provide adequate guidance to scientific work in the area of graphic technologies.

Graduated engineers of graphic engineering and design are trained to work independently in graphic technology companies, as well as in product development and research institutions.

Faculty of Technical Sciences had acquired a high reputation due to the significant number of implemented projects. These projects are developed and carried out on request and with the support of companies from Serbia and abroad. Department of Graphic Engineering and Design continues this tradition - in addition to a large number of successful projects, on department is every two years organized the International Symposium GRID. The GRID symposium is one of the most important in region and every time gathers more and more foreign and domestic participants. Department of Graphic Engineering and Design is also a member and a partner of several international professional and scientific associations such as the International Circle and IARIGAI.

Studying on Department of Graphic Engineering and Design offers a wide range of extracurricular activities. Study tours and excursions, which include visiting domestic and foreign companies and institutions, are organized periodically. The department has about 1,200 students.
